
Whether
they’re
wary
of
the
risks
or
simply
seeking
insight
into
law
firm
operations,
most
general
counsel
now
expect
their
outside
firms
to
be
transparent
about
their
use
of
artificial
intelligence,
according
to
a
new
report.
The
“2026
KPMG
Global
General
Counsel
Outlook“
notes
that
82%
of
general
counsel
agree
or
strongly
agree
that
they
expect
their
firms
to
track
and
share
their
use
of
AI
in
client
matters
—
a
“key
indicator
of
AI
caution.”
“Law
firms
are
now
evaluated
not
only
on
legal
expertise,
but
also
on
how
effectively
they
deploy,
govern,
and
explain
the
technologies
supporting
their
work,”
the
report
says.
The
KPMG
report
draws
on
a
global
survey
of
468
GCs
and
senior
legal
leaders
in
late
2025
and
early
2026.
