The
clarification
follows
remarks
made

by
Local

Public

Minister
Daniel
Garwe,
who
criticised
a
“Magaya”
and
a
“Mabhiza”
over
alleged
illegal
allocations
of
land
at
the
farm.

Because
the
minister
did
not
give
full
names,
some
members
of
the
public
assumed
he
was
referring
to
Attorney-General
Virginia
Mabiza.

It
has
emerged
that
Garwe
was
in
fact
referring
to
Walter
Magaya,
the
owner
of
Planet
Africa,
and
Sifelani
Mabhiza,
the
owner
of
Enhanced
Mortgaging
and
Housing
Africa.

In
a
statement
released
on
Monday,
11
May,
the
Office
of
the
Attorney-General
said
the
minister
was
not
referring
to
the
Attorney-General,
nor
to
any
official
within
her
office.

“The
Office
of
the
Attorney-General
wishes
to
clarify
the
confusion
and
misunderstanding
related
to
a
video
circulating
on
social
media,
following
remarks
made
by
the
Honourable
Minister
of
Local
Government,
Hon.
Daniel
Garwe,
at
Gilston
Farm
in
the
context
of
ongoing
efforts
to
address
illegal
land
allocations
and
the
activities
of
land
barons,”
reads
the
statement.

“The
video
makes
reference
to
an
individual
named
‘Mabhiza.’
For
the
avoidance
of
doubt,
this
reference
does
not
pertain
to
the
Attorney-General,
nor
any
official
within
the
Office
of
the
Attorney-General

“This
clarification
is
issued
to
prevent
any
misinterpretation
and
to
safeguard
the
integrity
and
reputation
of
the
person
and
the
Office
of
the
Attorney-General.

“For
the
record,
the
Office
of
the
Attorney
General
does
not
condone
the
actions
of
land
barons
or
any
illegal
conduct
related
to
land
allocation.

“Members
of
the
public
are
urged
to
exercise
due
diligence
and
refrain
from
disseminating
inaccurate
or
misleading
information.”

Meanwhile,
Minister
Garwe
gave
all
illegal
settlers
on
Gilstone
Farm,
including
those
linked
to
Magaya
and
Mabhiza,
seven
days
to
vacate
the
property.
