I
doubt
that
January
6
would
have
ever
occurred
had
it
not
been
for
the
enabling
of
that
effort
by
lawyers
of
the
legal
profession,
and
they
were
some
of
the
finest
lawyers
and
constitutional
lawyers
in
the
country.
So
where
did
they
go
wrong?

Luttig,
in
comments
given
during
an
American
Bar
Association
event,
on
the
inflammatory
role
that
lawyers
played
during
the
January
6
insurrection.
The
former
Fourth
Circuit
judge
continued,
saying
that
the
lawyers
involved
“tried
to
[use]
technical
law
to
support
the
president
of
the
United
States
in
overturning
an
election
that
he
had
lost
fair
and
square,”
and
that
it
was
“indefensible
and
inexcusable.”
