We
have
more
tragic
news
to
report
from
Texas,
where
a
young
associate
from
a
midsize
firm
recently
passed
away
as
a
victim
of
the
deadly
flash
flooding
that
hit
the
state.
Josephine
Hardin,
a
2023
graduate
of
Emory
Law,
was
a
third-year
associate
with
Atlanta-based
litigation
firm
Huff
Powell
Bailey.
She
was
visiting
family
with
her
parents
in
Hunt,
Texas,
over
the
Fourth
of
July
holiday
weekend
when
disaster
struck.
Hardin
and
her
mother,
Alyson,
are
still
missing
and
presumed
dead.
Her
father,
William,
survived
the
flood.
As
noted
by
the
Daily
Report,
Taylor
Tribble,
the
managing
partner
of
Hardin’s
firm,
has
expressed
her
deepest
sympathies
over
the
associate’s
passing:
Huff
Powell
Bailey,
an
80-lawyer
firm
specializing
in
medical
defense,
first
reported
Hardin’s
death
Thursday
in
a
social
media
post.
Tribble
said
she
had
been
in
close
contact
with
the
victim’s
aunt
for
updates
about
the
search
for
Hardin.“Josephine
was
a
beloved
member
of
our
firm,”
the
firm’s
post
stated.
“She
was
smart
and
beautifully
quirky.
She
made
us
laugh
out
loud,
come
together,
and
think
deeply
about
the
needs
of
others.”
Tribble
praised
Hardin
in
an
interview
with
the
Daily
Report,
calling
her
“engaging,
intuitive
and
hard-working”
and
“irreverent
and
vibrant.”
She
continued,
saying,
“She
really
has
left
a
lasting
impact.
We
really
did
lose
a
bright
star
in
all
respects.”
“She
just
did
an
excellent
job,”
Tribble
said.
“She
was
a
natural
trial
lawyer
so
it’s
just
a
devastating
loss
for
me
in
that
respect,
as
well.
We
here
at
Above
the
Law
would
like
to
extend
our
sincere
condolences
to
Josephine
Hardin’s
family,
colleagues,
and
friends
during
this
incredibly
difficult
time.
