note
:
Welcome
to
our
daily
feature, Quote
of
the
Day
.

The
battle
we’re
facing
at
this
point
goes
down
to
the
very
basics

whether
people
will
even
acknowledge
something
that
may
not
win
the
favor
of
the
president.

That
is
a
sad
situation.
I
don’t
know
how
this
story
ends,
because
virtually
all
these
nominees
are
going
to
be
approved.

—
Sen.

Dick
Durbin

(D-IL),
ranking
member
of
the
Senate
Judiciary
Committee,
in

comments
given

during
an
event
hosted
by
the
Chicago
Bar
Association,
titled

“Under
Siege:
The
American
Judiciary
and
the
Rule
of
Law,”

concerning
the
fact
that
judicial
nominees
that
have
appeared
before
Durbin’s
committee
are
now
refusing
to
respond
to
simple
questions
like
“what
happened
on
January
6?”
or
“who
won
the
2020
election?”
for
fear
of
possibly
facing
Donald
Trump’s
ire
over
their
answers.
